Akumajo Dracula Mokushiroku Original Game Soundtrack

1999 · Nintendo 64

Dark ambient textures and orchestral samples echoing through early 3D corridors. Castlevania 64, released in 1999, gets heat for its gameplay but the soundtrack genuinely goes hard. Dungeon ~ Main Theme carries this oppressive weight that the N64's sound hardware renders with surprising atmosphere.

Maze Garden has an eerie beauty that sticks with you. The game leans into cinematic territory with tracks like Introduction - "Mark of the Bloodline" and the tense Duel Tower theme. It traded catchy action melodies for slow-burn dread, and it works.

Some of these tracks feel like they belong in a much bigger production than the game got credit for. Give this a listen if you want to hear Castlevania at its most atmospheric.
