Ankh was a charmingly irreverent German point-and-click adventure game set in a comedic version of ancient Egypt, and its soundtrack plays right into that lighthearted tone. The score balances genuinely atmospheric Middle Eastern-flavored compositions with moments of pure silliness, which is exactly what you need when your protagonist is a hapless young Egyptian named Assil who accidentally gets cursed by a death spell after crashing his father's party.

"Streets Of Cairo" and "Bazaar" establish the setting with warm, bustling arrangements, while "Desert Theme" and "Oasis" paint the broader landscape. The three-part "Assil Fights Osiris" sequence is the musical centerpiece, escalating the tension across a boss encounter with the god of the underworld himself.
"Inside The Sphinx" and "The Catacombs" bring appropriately mysterious, echo-laden atmospheres to the game's dungeon-crawling moments, and "At The Bottom Of The Nile" has an underwater dreaminess to it. But the soundtrack really shines in its goofier moments -- "The Football Match" and "Moses Scores" are exactly as ridiculous as they sound, scoring a literal soccer game set in ancient times.
"Fun At The Bar" captures that classic adventure game tavern energy, "The Pharao Plays The Camella Loca" is wonderfully absurd, and "Trapped Inside The Quarry" brings claustrophobic tension to a puzzle sequence. "The Bazar At Night" is a lovely nocturnal counterpart to the daytime marketplace theme, and "Dinar Dies" handles one of the game's more dramatic story beats.
Developer Deck13 Interactive would go on to make very different games like The Surge, but Ankh's playful spirit lives on in this genuinely fun soundtrack.
