Apotheon Original Soundtrack

2015 · Linux, MacOS, Playstation 4, Windows

Ancient Greek mythology brought to life through period-inspired instrumentation that sounds like it was actually excavated from an Athenian amphitheater. Apotheon's 2015 soundtrack matches the game's stunning black-figure pottery art style with music that feels genuinely archaic.

"King of the Gods" opens with commanding authority, "Hades Underworld" descends into droning, otherworldly textures that make you feel the weight of the earth above you, and "Ares - God of War" brings the martial fury of Olympus's most violent deity with pounding percussion and aggressive strings.

The "Street Musician" trilogy is a brilliant touch. "Welcome to the Agora," "Dance of Dionysus," and "Apollo's Light" function as diegetic music within the game world, performances you'd actually hear in a Greek marketplace.

They ground the mythological grandeur in something human. The three-part "For Helen" suite tells the Trojan War's emotional core through music alone, building from longing through conflict to something unresolved. The combat tracks hit hard without abandoning the ancient aesthetic.

"Ten Years of War" carries the exhaustion of a decade-long siege, "Achilles Heel" threads vulnerability through heroic bluster, and "Maze of Athena" twists with the disorientation the goddess of wisdom would demand. "Atlantis" is the wild card, bringing submerged mystery to the mythological tour.

A soundtrack that treats Greek mythology with the weight it deserves.
