Released in the wake of Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon's massive success, this Special Tracks compilation cherry-picks and reimagines standout pieces from across the entire franchise's history. "Cinders" carries unmistakable echoes of Fires of Rubicon's fiery aesthetic. The track selection reveals a curatorial eye that understands what made each era of Armored Core musically distinct. "Blackout" and "Irregulation" bring raw intensity, "Fake Facer International" has a slick confidence to it, and "Stain (Final Version)" suggests a definitive take on a track that may have existed in earlier forms across the series.
At just nine tracks, this isn't trying to be comprehensive -- it's a highlight reel that trusts each piece to represent a larger body of work. "Apex in Circle (Over the Top)" and "Takes Me Anywhere" round out the collection with compositions that feel both nostalgic and forward-looking.
The timing of this release was clearly strategic, capitalizing on the renewed global interest in Armored Core after years of the franchise lying dormant while FromSoftware focused on Souls games. For fans who stuck with the series through its quieter years, this compilation is a victory lap.
For new converts from AC6, it's an invitation to explore a rich musical legacy they might have missed.
