ARMORED CORE VERDICT DAY ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK

Verdict Day was the expanded standalone follow-up to Armored Core V, and Kota Hoshino returned with a soundtrack that doubles down on that entry's post-apocalyptic grit while pushing into even more experimental territory.

All track titles are in caps this time, giving the whole tracklist a broadcast-transmission feel that suits a game about warring factions receiving orders from an AI called the Zodiac. "V FOR TWO" kicks things off as a clear sequel statement, while "YEAR OF VERDICT WAR" establishes the larger conflict with sweeping intensity.

"HIGH FEVER (sweetest thing)" is a clever callback to "High Fever" from the very first Armored Core soundtrack, reimagined here with a completely different character -- a recurring thread that Hoshino has woven through the entire franchise's musical history.

"THE MOTHER WILL COMES AGAIN" references the iconic Motherwill superweapon, tying Verdict Day back to for Answer's lore in a way that longtime fans will appreciate. "BLUE MAGNORIA" and "THE PERFECT ROSE" both carry an unexpected beauty, providing atmospheric contrast to bruisers like "SMASHER" and "DEMOLITION."

The characteristically oddball Hoshino naming conventions are in full force here -- "ON THE LAND OF BARKING SMELL" and "PROGRAMING IS UNCONTROLLED" (yes, one M) are the kind of charmingly off-kilter English titles that have become an Armored Core trademark.

"STAIN (a perfect day)" connects to "Stain" from AC V's soundtrack, forming another cross-game thread. "GRAVITY" closes things out with appropriate weight, serving as the final note of the last Armored Core before FromSoftware would go silent on the franchise for a decade -- until Armored Core VI finally arrived in 2023.
