The whole thing feels like a campfire story told in music. The environmental tracks are beautifully named and just as beautifully composed. "Balloons dont fly in the Rain" has this wistful quality that matches its title exactly, "Soothing a Wood Aura" drifts into ambient territory, and "We had to Cross a Marsh" squelches with a kind of weary determination.
"Strong as a Rhinoffalo" brings warmth and courage, referencing the game's fantasy creatures, while "Winter Whispers" chills things down with sparse, crystalline tones. What ties it all together is a sense of forward motion undercut by melancholy.
"Leading Them Home," "Tears of Hope," "Looking at the Sky" -- these are tracks about a people who know they might not make it but keep walking anyway. "Under the Eyes Tear" carries genuine emotional weight for a strategy game.
The French studio Unexpected put real heart into this, and the score by music director Sylvain Music reflects a world that's ending gently rather than violently.
