A 2008 Windows visual novel soundtrack steeped in Japanese folklore and supernatural atmosphere. The title "Asaki, Yumemishi" references the opening line of a famous poem -- "fleeting, like a dream" -- and the music carries that ethereal, impermanent quality throughout.

The three vocal tracks open the album with layered beauty: "Uranau Hana wa Chirinuredo" (The Divining Flowers Have Scattered) has this aching traditional vocal delivery, "Shizumeuta" (Calming Song) does exactly what its name says, and the title track ties them together.
All three get instrumental versions that let you hear the melodic bones underneath. The BGM section swings between pastoral warmth and genuine unease. "The Countryside in a Sunny Place" and "Good Morning Breakfast" paint an idyllic rural life, "Be Careful of the Mischievous Cat!"
is playful and light, and "Temperature of Happiness" glows. But then "Ayakashi" drops the supernatural hammer, "A Mystery Hidden Under a Curtain" creeps with traditional instrumentation turned sinister, and "Distorted Cocoon" twists everything sideways.
The "Biwa Solo" track is a particular highlight -- raw traditional lute performance that grounds the whole score in classical Japanese aesthetics. "Mibatano's Moon Crossing the Night" is hauntingly beautiful, and "Casting off the Skin" carries transformation-horror energy.
A soundtrack that understands folk horror means the folk part has to feel real before the horror can land.
