Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Wrath of the Druids Original Game Soundtrack

2021 · Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Stadia, Windows

The Wrath of the Druids soundtrack transports Valhalla's Norse musical identity to the misty hills of Ireland, and the result is something genuinely special. The collaboration with Scottish Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis is the album's crown jewel -- "Canaid Lia Fail" appears in multiple versions (acoustic, instrumental, and vocal), each offering a different emotional angle on the Irish experience.

Fowlis's voice brings an authenticity to the Celtic material that mirrors what Einar Selvik did for the Norse elements in the base game. "Flann for Eirinn, The Coronation" is a stirring ceremonial piece that captures the historical weight of Irish high kingship.

"Shores of Inis Fail" and "Bounteous Fields" paint the Irish landscape in warm, green-tinged tones that feel distinctly different from England's score, while "The Children of Danu" and "Whispers of Dark Spirits" dive into the expansion's druidic cult storyline with eerie, unsettling textures.

The tension between Ireland's natural beauty and the sinister presence lurking in its sacred groves is the musical engine driving the whole album. "A Wild Place" captures that duality perfectly -- gorgeous on the surface, with something dangerous underneath.

"Valhalla Need not be a Place" is a philosophically rich cue that ties the expansion back to the main game's themes of belonging and legacy, while "Bury the Past, Build the Future" speaks to Eivor's evolving relationship with this new land.

"The Song of Lia Fail, Sung at Sea" is a beautiful transitional piece that evokes the voyage from England to Ireland. The score successfully argues that Ireland deserved its own distinct musical identity within the Valhalla universe, not just a reskin of the Norse palette but a genuinely Celtic voice.
