ASTRAL CHAIN Sound Selection

PlatinumGames going full cyberpunk with a soundtrack that hits as hard as the combat. Astral Chain dropped on Switch in 2019, directed by Takahisa Taura with Hideki Kamiya supervising, and the music by Satoshi Igarashi is relentless.

"Savior" opens with this heroic declaration of intent, "Central City (Combat Phase)" layers electronic beats over aggressive synth work, and "Ark Mall (Combat Phase)" turns a shopping center into a warzone soundtrack. Nearly half the tracklist is combat phases, because that is where this game lives.

The Homunculus boss themes escalate beautifully across alpha, beta, and gamma, each one ratcheting up the intensity as the chimeric threats get worse. The Jena Anderson trilogy is the real showpiece though. "Jena Anderson" introduces her motif, "Jena - Rebellion and Salvation" twists it into something desperate, and "Jena - Catastrophe" just goes completely unhinged.

PlatinumGames boss music always tells a story, and this is no exception. "Dark Hero" getting both female and male versions is a nice touch for the twin protagonist setup. "Rush!!" and "Madness" do exactly what their names promise.

"Fragments of Hope" and "The Holy Order of the Digital Hermit" provide the rare moments of quiet amid the chaos. This is a sound selection, not the full OST, and it still packs this much heat.
