On to Grasstown bounces with that NES-era pulse channel energy. Then Running Hell hits and it's pure 8-bit fury, relentless and driving. The whole 41-track set is here, from the quiet Safety theme to the intense Last Battle.
Moonsong still hits emotional even in lo-fi. Balrog's Theme still sounds goofy and threatening at the same time. Hero's End still stings. The arrangements respect the originals while giving them a completely different texture.
For Cave Story fans who thought the soundtrack couldn't get any more charming.
