"On to Grasstown" ramps up with an urgency that matches the moment the game stops being cute and starts being intense. "Moonsong" is pure melancholy, the emotional peak that catches you off guard after hours of action.
"Running Hell" and "Last Battle" bring the heat for the endgame. "Balrog's Theme" is the goofiest recurring boss music ever and it works perfectly. If you've never played Cave Story, this soundtrack alone is reason enough to start.
