Slow-burn tropical dread with sudden bursts of violence. Dead Island on PS3/360/PC nailed that contrast between paradise and nightmare, and the soundtrack mirrors it perfectly. "Lifeguard Theme Piano" is heartbreakingly simple, just keys over silence, while "Fight 11 Mayhem" is exactly the chaos it promises.

"Leaving The Banoi" closes the album with this heavy finality, like the island won. The ambient tracks do a lot of the heavy lifting. "Ambient Cave" and the suite pieces build atmosphere that makes every shadow feel wrong.
Even the loading screens have weight to them. For anyone who remembers that first trailer and still gets chills thinking about Banoi.
