The title track "Shadowkeep" establishes a dread-soaked atmosphere that's miles away from the heroic bombast of vanilla Destiny 2.

Composers at Bungie leaned into dissonance and unsettling textures to score a campaign built around Hive nightmares and buried trauma. "Terroris Somnum" and "Whispers in the Dark" are standout pieces of atmospheric horror scoring, using choir and strings to evoke the Pyramid's creeping influence beneath the lunar surface.
"Necropolis" captures the oppressive weight of the Hive catacombs, while "Hashladun's Fall" delivers the triumphant payoff of toppling the Scarlet Keep's boss with a suitably climactic crescendo. "Heretical Omen" weaves Hive ritual chanting into its fabric in a way that's genuinely unsettling.
The album isn't all darkness, though. "Eden" opens with a sense of wonder that recalls the franchise's best exploratory moments, and "Respite" offers a much-needed breath of calm between the horrors. "The Sanctified Mind," scoring the Garden of Salvation raid's final encounter, brings together pounding percussion and ethereal Vex-inspired motifs into one of Destiny 2's most memorable boss themes.
"Salvation" and "Temptation" close things out by hinting at the Darkness-focused storylines that would dominate the seasons ahead.
