Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate

2025 · Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Windows, Xbox One

The Edge of Fate continues Destiny 2's post-Final Shape era with new content and a soundtrack that balances original compositions with remixes of beloved earlier tracks. The album's original pieces carry evocative, almost philosophical titles -- "You Is An Idea You Had" and "They Who Manipulated You" suggest the kind of existential storytelling Bungie has leaned into as the franchise explores what comes after its original saga concluded.

"An Invitation" opens with intrigue, setting up whatever new threat or mystery drives this chapter, while "Dented Helmets and Bloody Teeth" delivers the visceral combat energy that Destiny soundtracks do best. "Infinite Temporality" and "The Grand Design" hint at Vex time manipulation with compositions that play with repetition and shifting structures.

"Two Minutes Ahead" and "The Linguist" are wonderfully specific titles that suggest tightly scored mission moments rather than generic background ambiance. The remix block in the back half is a treat for longtime fans. Reworked versions of "The Trickster," "The Vex," and "The Hunted" give classic Destiny 2 themes fresh life, while "Burden of Sacrifice (Remix)" and "Frigid Tomb (Remix)" revisit some of the franchise's more somber musical moments with new arrangements.

"Dreamin' of the Past" serves as a bridge between the new and old material, and "Break What You Must" carries a determined finality that suggests Guardians making hard choices in whatever narrative this soundtrack accompanies.
