"Detective Theme" is all jazzy confidence with a wink -- the kind of melody that tells you the protagonist is clever but also a bit of a goofball. "Cute Theme" leans full tilt into warmth and friendliness. "Suspenseful Background" and "Mysterious Background" do their jobs without overdoing the darkness.
This is a mystery set in a swamp with a creature called Boggy, after all -- the tension needs to be real but not oppressive. "Action Time!" picks up the energy for chase sequences and confrontations with a bouncy urgency that fits the game's animated art style perfectly.
The ten-track set is bookended by a proper "Intro" and "Outro" that frame the whole adventure neatly, with "Credits" giving you a satisfying wind-down. It's a soundtrack that knows exactly what it is and executes with personality.
If you liked the Layton games' lighter musical moments, Detective Grimoire's score lives in that same neighborhood.
