DETONATOR ORGUN 3

1992 · Anime

Detonator Orgun was a three-part OVA from the early '90s featuring mecha action and alien threats, and this third soundtrack album covers the finale of the series. The story follows Tomoru Shindo merging with the alien mecha Orgun to defend Earth, and the music had to deliver on that epic sci-fi promise.

Composed with that unmistakable early '90s anime OVA energy, it blends orchestral drama with synth-driven action. "Detonator Orgun" opens with the bold titular theme, setting the heroic tone for the final act. "Propaganda of E.

D.F. II" brings militaristic tension as Earth's defense forces mobilize, while "Tomoru & Michi" handles the emotional core of the series with a tender character theme. "Water of Time and Space (Full Size)" is a standout, expanding into a lush, expansive piece that captures the cosmic scale of the conflict.

"Zorma" and "Space Force" bring the antagonist and battle energy respectively. "Climax" delivers exactly what its title promises for the final showdown, and the album winds down beautifully with "Hope" and "Root of spirit," giving the series the emotional resolution it earned.

"Dream Quest" and "Dual Mind" explore the psychological aspects of Tomoru's fusion with Orgun. This is classic early '90s mecha anime scoring at its most sincere, from an era when OVAs had the budget and ambition to deliver genuinely cinematic music.
