"Welcome To The Genocide Island" is one of the hardest track names in gaming and the music backs it up completely, oppressive and foreboding. "An Encounter" captures that first T-Rex moment with a visceral intensity that the PS1 hardware shouldn't have been able to deliver.
"On The Verge Of Attack" sustains tension without ever releasing it, keeping you in this permanent state of anticipation. "Pounced" is pure panic, the audio equivalent of a raptor crashing through a window. "Murderers In The Sky" brings the pteranodon threat with something more open and exposed.
"Set You At Ease" is the rare save room moment where the soundtrack lets you breathe, and it works precisely because everything around it is so suffocating. "Lamentation" brings genuine sadness into the mix, a reminder that people died on this island.
"A Secret In The Poisonous Gas" and "Confined" keep the claustrophobia cranked. This is late-90s Capcom horror scoring at its most effective.
