A tight four-track single from the PSP era that hits with mid-2000s J-rock energy. "Spinwake" on the B-side matches that intensity with a different angle, more rhythmic push than melodic pull. "Search light" and "Inspire" round out the set as coupling tracks, and they hold their own. "Search light" has a searching, atmospheric quality that lives up to its name, while "Inspire" leans into something more uplifting and forward-moving.
Four songs, no filler, every one pulling its weight. This is the kind of release that gets lost in the cracks between full game soundtracks and major artist albums. A PSP tie-in single from 2005 that somebody clearly put real songwriting effort into.
For anyone who misses the era when portable gaming and J-rock singles were practically synonymous.
