Aubrey Hodges takes his original Doom 64 ambient nightmares and stretches them out into something even more suffocating. This 20th Anniversary Extended Edition gives every level track room to fully breathe, which in this case means room to fully crawl under your skin.

The extended "Doom 64 Main Theme - 20th Anniversary Version" sets the tone immediately, a reworked vision that's sharper and more deliberate than the 1997 original. "The Madness (Level - Staging Area) Extended" is where the dread really takes hold, low rumbles and metallic scrapes that build tension without ever giving you a release.
"Tortured Transmission" lives up to its name with these warped, almost radio-static textures, and "Hellistatic" pushes even further into pure industrial unease. "Bleep Spawn" is particularly nasty, alien chirps and groans layered over bottomless sub-bass.
This isn't background music and it never was. Hodges composed what might be the most genuinely unsettling console soundtrack of the 90s, and these extended cuts prove the material only gets stronger when you let it marinate.
If you thought Doom was all thrash metal and shotguns, Doom 64 would like a word.
