Dragon Age: Origins - Leliana's Song Original Videogame Score

2010 · MacOS, Playstation 3, Windows, Xbox 360

This compact DLC soundtrack tells a surprisingly complete musical story in just eight tracks, following the bard Leliana through her pre-Origins backstory in Orlais. The titular "Leliana's Song" is a gentle, lute-driven piece that captures the romantic, almost fairy-tale quality of her character, while "Leliana's Dance" picks up the tempo with a playful energy that speaks to her life as a carefree bard before betrayal changed everything.

The contrast between the lighter and darker halves of the album mirrors Leliana's arc perfectly. "Day In A Life" and "Market Place" paint a picture of everyday Orlesian bustle with warm, folk-inspired instrumentation, but then "Sorrow" and "In The Dungeon" pull you into cold, oppressive soundscapes that hit hard when you know the story behind them.

That tonal whiplash is very intentional, and it works. "Street Fight" closes things out with the kind of tense, driven combat music that Origins does so well, all urgent strings and percussion. It's a small album, but Inon Zur packs real emotional range into it.

For fans who fell in love with Leliana's character in the main game, this score adds a layer of depth that makes returning to her story feel genuinely meaningful.
