The "LAST BOSS" theme pushes the sound chip harder with layered channels fighting for attention. What makes this release special is hearing the same compositions realized on completely different hardware. The PC-9801 versions of the same stages have a distinctly different texture -- thinner in some places, richer in others, depending on how the arranger worked within each platform's limitations.
It's basically a masterclass in how the same melody transforms across sound chips. The inclusion of unused tracks and the full SE (sound effect) collection shows someone cared enough to preserve everything. Two unused PC Engine compositions that never made it into the final game, just sitting here waiting to be discovered.
For retro game music archivists and TurboGrafx enthusiasts, this is exactly the kind of release that makes the hobby worthwhile.
