"KHAOS" and "The End of KHAOS" bookend the central antagonistic force. "Izumo's Theme" and "Layla's Theme" give the characters emotional depth unusual for a shoot-em-up — DRAINUS actually cares about its story. "Fragments of a Thought" and "Parting Ways" deliver the narrative beats between stages.
Sixteen tracks that make every stage feel like an event. "Void -STAGE 5-" strips everything to essential emptiness. "Showdown -STAGE 4-" delivers mid-game climactic energy. DRAINUS earned critical acclaim for being one of the best modern shmups, and the soundtrack's quality is a significant part of why it works — every bullet absorbed and fired back feels musically justified.
