Drakensang Soundtrack

2008 · Windows

Based on The Dark Eye — Germany's answer to Dungeons & Dragons — Drakensang's soundtrack is appropriately Germanic in every way. All-German titles paint the world: "Ferdok - die Stadt am Großen Fluß" (Ferdok - City on the Great River), "Murolosch - die Stadt der Zwerge" (City of the Dwarves), "Ruine Blutberge" (Blood Mountain Ruins).

"Drachen!" (Dragons!) and "Orks!" use exclamation marks like a dungeon master dramatically announcing an encounter. "Blitzende Klingen" (Flashing Blades) and "Schild und Schwert" (Shield and Sword) score the combat. "Hinter den Feuerfällen von Algormosch" (Behind the Fire Falls of Algormosch) builds dwarven grandeur.

"Spelunken und Tavernen" (Dives and Taverns) provides the obligatory fantasy pub atmosphere. "Elfengeist und Nekromant" (Elf Ghost and Necromancer) pairs two supernatural threats. "Auf zu neuen Welten" (On to New Worlds) closes with adventuring optimism.

Twenty-five tracks of orchestral fantasy firmly rooted in Das Schwarze Auge's rich European pen-and-paper tradition.
