Grimy, street-level funk and hip-hop that bleeds New York attitude. Driver: Parallel Lines dropped in 2006 across PS2, Windows, and Xbox, and this collector's edition soundtrack is the original score side of the coin, all swagger and asphalt heat.

It sounds like what happens when you let a composer loose in 1970s Manhattan with a drum machine and a grudge. "Smack the Bird" opens with this aggressive, head-nodding groove that sets the tone for the whole record. "New York Pity" leans into something darker and more cinematic, like a car chase scored by a jazz band that's seen too much.
"Monkey Nuts" is exactly as unhinged as the title suggests, funky and weird and completely unapologetic about it. "Big City Streets (theme from Driver PL)" closes things out as the proper theme and it earns the spot. "(Everybody) Reverberate (The Return To New York Mix)" stretches out with this echoing, layered production that fills every corner of the mix.
Twelve tracks of pure driving-game energy that never once sounds like background music.
