Crisp electronic production spanning house, breakbeat, and ambient across ten different artists. Electo is a 2009 compilation album and every track has its own personality. Shibayan's "electronic city" leads with driving synth work, while arm's "you gotta twist!
twist!" brings funkier, more aggressive energy. Completely different vibes track to track. "Illumina" by Kamin-T glows with softer textures, and "a cloudy sky" by takana drifts into downtempo territory. The variety keeps you guessing what's next.
The whole thing feels like a snapshot of Japan's independent electronic scene in the late 2000s. Multiple producers, each doing their thing, no two tracks alike. Good late night headphone listening for anyone who wants electronic music with that doujin circle creativity baked in.
