Falcom SOUND CATALOG Special Digest Disc

1989

Sharp FM synthesis cutting through like cold cathedral air. The Falcom SOUND CATALOG Special Digest Disc is a 1989 sampler spanning Ys, Sorcerian, and other late-80s Falcom titles before most people outside Japan knew these games existed.

"FIRST STEP TOWARDS WARS" is that iconic Ys grasslands track, all driving percussion and soaring lead synth. "TO MAKE THE END OF BATTLE" brings the Ys title screen energy. And then "Snow on the Gojo Ohashi Bridge" pulls from a completely different game with this moody, atmospheric feel.

This is pure PC-88/PC-98 era Falcom. The FM chip doing things it probably shouldn't be able to do. Every track punches way above what you'd expect from 1989 hardware. If you think game music started getting good on the SNES, this disc would like a word.
