Dark FM synth with teeth. Farland Story: Juuou no Akashi is a 1995 PC-98 strategy RPG and the soundtrack leans heavier and stranger than its predecessor. "The Borderless Area" sets this uneasy tone right away, like the map itself is threatening you.

"Angry Cat in the Closed Radio" is as weird as its name suggests, all jittery energy and off-kilter rhythm. "Primitive Humanity-1" and its sequel track build this slow, oppressive atmosphere that sticks with you. The FM chip work gets genuinely unsettling.
But then "Fields of Joy" and "One Day in Autumn" show up and remind you the game has a heart underneath all that tension. For PC-98 fans who like their SRPG soundtracks with a little more edge and a lot more personality.
