"Stage 5" and the boss themes push the hardware with layered FM channels that create way more depth than you'd expect. "Boss 1" especially has this urgent, relentless energy that makes every encounter feel desperate. The way it flows straight into the stage clear jingle is chef's kiss timing.
"Last Boss" pulls out everything the YM2612 has left. And the split between "Stage 11 (Rescue Failure)" and "Stage 11 (Rescue Success)" into different endings shows real compositional ambition for a shmup. The bad ending track genuinely stings.
