Dark, gothic, and dripping with atmosphere. Jingai Makyo is a 2005 Windows visual novel set in a demon-infested world and the soundtrack never lets you forget it. "Hell of discarded corpses" is exactly as unsettling as advertised, slow and oppressive.

"Carnival" shifts into this eerie, circus-like energy that makes everything feel wrong. And "midnight ballade" pulls back into something genuinely tender, a quiet moment between all the horror. The range between grotesque and beautiful is the whole point.
Tracks like "Grotesque profusion" sit right next to "Silent tears" and somehow both fit. Organ, strings, and minor keys do a lot of work here. Very mid-2000s dark VN energy. If you want a soundtrack that sounds like wandering through a cursed cathedral at night, this is exactly that.
