Heavy piano chords and a suffocating atmosphere right from the opening. Kankinkon ~Sentaku no Hibi~ is a 2020 visual novel with a soundtrack that mirrors its dark psychological tone perfectly. "這い寄る影" creeps in with this low, unsettling ambience that makes your skin crawl, and "したたる狂気" just drips with tension the whole way through.
Then "陽だまりの昔日" hits you with this nostalgic warmth that feels almost cruel given the context. The contrast between the Bad End theme "まるで悪夢のような" and the Happy End theme "その扉は開かれた" tells the whole story arc in two tracks.
One crushes you, the other lets you breathe. Modern production quality with a lot of restraint. Good for anyone who thinks VN soundtracks can't do genuine psychological horror through music alone.
