That kind of thematic development in a film score is something you feel even if you don't consciously notice it. "SNEAKIN'" is pure Lupin, all slinky bass and jazz cool, the sound of a thief who's having way too much fun.
"LONE WOLF" flips to the melancholy side of Lupin's character, the version of him that stares out windows and actually thinks about things. "WEDDING" carries this fragile beauty that mirrors Clarisse's storyline perfectly, while "THE PLOT OF THE EARL" goes dark and scheming.
"YOU ARE LIKE BREEZE VARIATION" is the emotional core, gentle and aching in a way that Ohno rarely gets enough credit for. "UNCANNY NIGHT" and "MYSTERY ZONE" handle the gothic atmosphere of Cagliostro's castle, and "A RIDDLE OF UNDERGROUND WATERWORKS" scores one of the most memorable set pieces in anime history.
Every track earns its place.
