"Warrior's Departure" carries that classic overworld grandeur, the kind of melody that makes you feel like the journey actually matters, while "Fighting human's way" delivers a battle theme with real urgency and a surprisingly complex arrangement for three channels.
The dungeon tracks show impressive range. "Labyrinth Road" creeps with tension, "Kajuura's Castle" builds something genuinely foreboding, and "Flame Corridor" brings the heat with driving percussion. "Symphony of Destruction" for the Eight Commanders boss fights is a standout -- it has this desperate intensity that sells the stakes of facing the game's major antagonists.
Then there are the quieter moments. "In the Calm Light" in the villages, "Peace to You" in the towns, "Reparable GIMMICK" at the inn -- all gentle and warm in a way that makes the dangerous tracks hit harder by contrast.
This is one of those hidden gems from the tail end of the NES library that deserves way more attention than it gets.
