The SNES's SPC700 sound chip gives these compositions a warmer, more colorful character than the Mega Drive's FM synthesis. Thirty-three tracks for a kindergarten RPG suggests extensive musical variety — dungeon themes, battle music, town themes, and character moments all rendered through Nintendo's 16-bit audio.

But the compositions themselves carry Compile's distinctive melodic charm that would eventually become the musical DNA of the entire Puyo Puyo franchise.
