Tenpei Sato absolutely cooked on this one. Disgaea 3 takes the series' signature blend of rock, jazz, and orchestral absurdity and cranks it to match Mao's whole rebellious honor student energy. "Maritsu Evil Academy" sets up the Netherworld school vibe with a theme that's equal parts sinister and catchy, while "AKUMA Galops" goes full demonic marching band in the best possible way.

The fact that there's an actual "Maritsu Evil Academy School Song" and a fake recruitment CM track tells you everything about this game's sense of humor. "Mr. Champloo" is funky and weird and fits right in with the series tradition of battle themes you'd never expect in a strategy RPG.
"Power Streaming" and "Burst Out" bring the heat for tougher fights, and "Go, Mao!" in its instrumental version still carries that triumphant punch. Then "Fugue of the Netherworld" does something genuinely classical that works way better than it should.
"Blue Concerto" and "Pathetique No." lean into the more serious emotional beats without losing the Disgaea personality. "Unlucky Hero" and "This Boy Must Hold a Wicked Heart" feel tailor-made for Mao's whole deal of pretending to be evil while being secretly decent.
If you've been following Tenpei Sato across the Disgaea series, this is him in peak form on PS3 hardware.
