Fallen London's gaslit Victorian underworld gets a romance-visual-novel treatment, and the 2023 soundtrack matches the setting's peculiar blend of gothic dread and dry wit. Failbetter Games' universe has always lived on atmosphere, and this score delivers it through chamber-style arrangements that feel like candlelit parlor music played slightly off-kilter.

"After The Fall" establishes the post-Bazaar London with a somber gravity, while character themes like "Horatia," "Griz's Theme," "Archie's Theme," and "Harjit's Theme" give each romance option their own musical identity.
"A Discussion with Devils" carries the exact tone you'd expect from negotiating with Fallen London's bat-winged aristocrats -- formal, dangerous, faintly amused. "The Drowned Parliament" and "Hogslain Market" paint specific locations with rich atmospheric detail.
"Menace Eradication" injects some tension into the proceedings, and "Imprisoned" goes darker still. But the real closer is "Fantasia on Mask of The Rose," which weaves the main theme into something grander and more reflective.
If you're a Fallen London devotee or just appreciate soundtracks that know exactly what kind of weird they are, this one belongs in your collection.
