Full cinematic orchestra for a Monster Hunter MMO that only China got to play. Monster Hunter Online launched on PC in 2015 as a CryEngine-powered Chinese exclusive, and the soundtrack is legitimately massive. "Walking Fortress" has this lumbering weight that makes you feel the size of whatever you're fighting, "Death Within the Web" is claustrophobic and tense, and "Chase in the Cold Winds" nails that frantic pursuit energy when a monster tries to flee zones.
The town themes pull their weight too. "Capitol of Prosperity" gives the hub real grandeur, "Frolic" and "Murmurs of the Soul" soften things for downtime. "Last Line of Defense" is the kind of desperate battle track that plays when carts are running out.
If you're curious what a Tencent-published Monster Hunter actually sounded like before the servers went dark, the music alone proves the project was no throwaway.
