The piano version of the Main Title sets this melancholy, almost classical tone. Then "Crawling Shadow" and "Nightmare World" pull you into pure dread with distant whispers and unsettling melodic fragments. Each room in the mansion gets its own theme, so "Jukkaku-Kan" and "Ningyo-Kan" feel like completely different kinds of fear.
Character tracks like "Chiori" and "Yurie" are surprisingly warm between all the horror. Massive soundtrack, barely known outside Japan. If you dig obscure PS1 horror with atmosphere over action, this one rewards patience.
