Dark ambient textures that actually commit to being unsettling instead of just floating as background noise. One Curious Nightfall is a small PC game from 2011 and the soundtrack does so much heavy lifting for atmosphere.

Fall Into Night opens with low drones that slowly layer in rhythmic clicks and distant reverb, setting a tone that never fully lets go. Industrial Melancholy leans into harsher metallic sounds, almost mechanical and cold.
Then Dawn in the Horizon breaks through with something warmer, like sunlight after being underground for hours. Through the Machine in the bonus tracks goes even deeper into that industrial territory. Only eight tracks but it builds a real sense of place.
