PRINCESS MAKER FAERY TALES COME TRUE

1996 · Playstation

The daughter-raising sim gets a PS1 soundtrack that's equal parts whimsical and surprisingly sophisticated. "A Fairy Seen in a Dream" appears in four different arrangements (main, orchestral, finale, brass band) and each one recontextualizes the melody beautifully.

The daily life tracks like "Arbeit," "Studies," and "Rest" are short loops that somehow never get annoying, a genuine achievement for a game you'll spend hours in. "Romantic" does exactly what it says. "Expectation" and "Anxiety" mirror the emotional arc of watching your little princess grow up.

The brass band version of the main theme is unexpectedly delightful. If you spent your childhood optimizing stat builds for a fictional daughter, this soundtrack was the reason it felt like it mattered.
