"Trick Star" bounces with playful synth work while "Electric Sheep" leans into atmospheric territory with a title that practically winks at you. The Japanese track names hint at the range here, from the dreamy "Fairy Tale" to the introspective "Mental Wave" to the bittersweet "Long Long Ago."
Umemoto had this gift for making synthesized sounds feel genuinely warm. Even the two jingles have personality. Knowing we lost him in 2011 makes tracks like "Only You Have" hit different now. A quietly brilliant score from one of Japan's best FM composers.
