Falcom Sound Team jdk's Ys1 COMPLETE collection is the definitive version of these tracks, fully arranged with modern production while keeping the original spirit intact. "First Step Towards Wars" still triggers that immediate rush of setting out from Minea for the first time.
"Holders of Power" and "Palace of Destruction" layer these driving rhythms that turn dungeon crawling into something cinematic. The inclusion of alternate opening versions at the end is a nice touch, letting you hear how even the title screen evolved between Eternal and Complete.
Twenty-nine tracks covering every corridor, boss fight, and quiet moment in Esteria. "Beat of the Terror" into "Tower of the Shadow of Death" is one of the best one-two punches in action RPG music. If you've never played Ys, this soundtrack alone will convince you to start.
