Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK

2016 · Nintendo 3DS

Ryota Kozuka went feral on this one. SMT IV Apocalypse's soundtrack hits harder than the original IV in almost every way, and the battle themes alone are worth the listen. "Battle-f1" has this aggressive guitar-synth hybrid that makes random encounters feel urgent instead of routine.

"Divine Powers Battle" layers in these heavy prog-rock shifts that keep catching you off guard. Then "Dagda's Theme" pulls everything back to this quiet, almost mournful drone. The contrast kills me. "Fairy Forest" is weirdly peaceful for an SMT game, like finding a save point you didn't earn.

If you thought the 3DS couldn't deliver a soundtrack with this much bite, Apocalypse is here to prove you wrong.
