"Sail Away" brings in vocals that feel like remembering something you never actually experienced. The harp and orgel variations of the main theme strip it down to almost nothing. "Final Sortie" carries all the accumulated weight of every version before it.
The whole soundtrack lives in this space between beauty and numbness that mirrors the film's child-soldiers-who-can't-die premise perfectly. Essential Kawai for anyone who loved Ghost in the Shell's quieter moments.
