Six tracks that taste like sugar and dread in equal measure. てんのみかく (roughly "heavenly taste") is a 2004 Japanese game with song titles referencing sweets, honey, and cherries, but there's darkness threaded through all of it.
"終末" (The End) opens the album, which is a choice. "黒蜜" (Black Honey) and "蜜月" (Honeymoon) sit next to each other and play off each other's sweetness with this underlying tension. Then "戦場のチェリー" (Battlefield Cherry) drops the pretense entirely.
The whole album is barely a handful of songs but every one counts. Something about the contrast between the food imagery and the mood just lingers. If you dig short, atmospheric Japanese game soundtracks from the mid-2000s that leave you thinking, this is six tracks of exactly that.
