This 2001 visual novel soundtrack leans hard into early-2000s J-pop production and it completely works. SPOTLIGHT's disc swings between bubbly tracks like "My Popping Day" and darker, tension-laced cuts like "Distorted mind" and "Taboo Imagination" that mirror the game's themes of desire and longing.
"You're my treasure" gets three versions, and honestly the TR-MIX remix hits different with its trance-influenced beat underneath the vocal line. "Hopeless" and "Bad News" bring genuine melancholy without overdoing it. The contrast between "Peaceful Day" and "Racing with teh Devil" basically maps the whole emotional range of this soundtrack in two tracks.
Worth it if you're into that late-90s/early-00s Japanese pop-adjacent game music wave.
