The Final Fantasy III Christmas Medley rearranges NES-era themes into something warm and orchestral, which feels wild sitting next to the Chaos Rings Sigma title theme's brooding atmosphere. There's an FFX HD Remaster track that makes you feel the salt air all over again.
A sampler disc probably shouldn't hold together this well, but the curation bounces between eras and tones so confidently it kind of works as its own playlist. Worth it if you want a cross-section of where Square Enix's sound was headed in 2013.
