SUDEKI Original Soundtrack

2004 · Windows, Xbox

Dense, layered orchestral fantasy scoring that was built to shift and react in real time. Sudeki on Xbox was composed by Tom Colvin, and the music used up to ten simultaneous layers that faded in and out depending on where you were and how much danger you were in.

Dance music influences hiding under RPG orchestration. "New Brightwater" opens with this warm, inviting town theme that immediately sets a world up. "Cyantine Citadel" goes full imposing grandeur, heavy brass and tension.

"Crystal Reef" has this shimmering, aquatic quality that sounds nothing like the canyon tracks flanking it. The location names are half the fun. "Rumblebelly Canyon." "Devils Belch Canyon." Someone on the writing team was having a great time.

If you missed Climax Studios' attempt at a Western-made JRPG in 2004, the soundtrack alone is worth discovering.
