Tail of the Sun has one of the weirdest PS1 soundtracks and I say that with total affection. This caveman survival game from Artdink has music that swings between tribal percussion jams and these bizarrely chill ambient pieces with zero warning.

Odotte Pon! is this infectious rhythmic track that gets stuck in your head for days, while Doukutsu no Nakade goes full eerie cave atmosphere with hollow echoes and tension. Wild Child Rising brings this raw energy that sounds almost punk through the PS1 sound chip.
The arrange versions on this release clean things up but honestly the originals have more personality. If you ever played this beautiful mess of a game, the soundtrack is somehow the most coherent part of the whole experience.
