Techno Cop

1990 · Genesis / Mega Drive

The title theme on Techno Cop hits with that raw early Genesis FM crunch that just sounds like 1990 in the best way. Only four tracks total but the title screen alone goes harder than it has any right to for a game this obscure.

The FM synth bass on the ending track carries this almost funky groove underneath all that distorted Mega Drive grit. Genuinely punchy stuff. The MIDI versions give you the stripped-down bones of the compositions and honestly they hold up on their own.

If you're into that first-gen Genesis sound before developers really figured out the YM2612, this is a fun little time capsule to dig into.
