TECHNOuchi's compilation feels like cracking open someone's hard drive of game music experiments spanning five years. The Encyclopedia collects tracks across a bunch of projects, and the range is wild. "HI-TECH 平安京" fuses trance production with traditional Japanese elements in a way that sounds exactly as unhinged as it should, and the remix version pushes it further.
"trancevolution" does what it says on the tin with these escalating synth layers. "Huge Monster" and "Real Adventure" hit more conventional game music territory but still carry that electronic edge. Even the unused and extra tracks have personality.
If you dig Japanese indie game composers who treat electronic music like a playground, this collection rewards a full listen.
